VOICE IN THE VALLEY will take place on Sunday 19 June at Darwin’s Hidden Valley featuring Aussie music great John Farnham, supported by Taylor Henderson.
“I am delighted that John Farnham will be coming to Darwin to headline the VOICE IN THE VALLEY alongside the Darwin Triple Crown V8 Supercars,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.
“This will be the first time Territorians will see Farnham perform in Darwin since he last toured in 2001 with Olivia Newton-John and Anthony Warlow.
“Last year the V8s attracted 44 000 local and interstate visitors over the three days of entertainment and we’re keen to see the reputation of this world-class event grow.
“That’s why we’ve invested more than $13 million in infrastructure upgrades at Hidden Valley as part of Budget 2015, cementing the Territory’s reputation as a haven for motorsports and entertainment.”
Farnham, without challenge is Australia’s most successful solo artist on-stage and on record. His Whispering Jack album was the first to sell over a million copies in Australia alone. He has sold more albums, live tickets and accumulated more accolades than any other Australian musician.
Drawing on the phenomenal songbook from his stellar four decade-long career, 19-time ARIA Award winner and all-round top bloke John Farnham continues to be “The Voice” of Australian music, thrilling audiences with his onstage charisma and those unforgettable vocals.
“I am really looking forward to returning to the Top End of Australia.” John Farnham said.
Taylor Henderson made a name for himself immediately following The X Factor, with the double-platinum single ‘Borrow My Heart’ from his self-titled debut album.
Mr Giles said the Country Liberals Government was working hard to develop a confident culture that celebrated the Territory’s outdoor lifestyle with world class events, festivals, sports and arts.
“By reducing Labor’s debt and getting the finances in order, we’re able to afford to invest in sporting and community events that celebrate the Territory’s unique way of life,” he said.
“The world class events we have in the Territory are attracting visitors from intrastate, interstate and overseas, which means more money spent at local businesses and more job opportunities for Territorians.
“It’s all part of the Country Liberals’ plan to drive the development of Northern Australia and build a $2.2 billion visitor economy by 2020.”
Tickets to VOICE IN THE VALLEY will go on sale at 8am (CST) Thursday 21 April 2016 at www.darwinv8s.com.au and Ticketek. Ticket upgrade options will include allocated seats with premium viewing.
